Senegal Football Federation Addresses Viral Airport Security Footage
The video, which spread rapidly across multiple platforms, was widely misrepresented — with several reports falsely placing the security checks at the team's destination of San Antonio, Texas, rather than at their point of departure.
"Contrary to some reports, the security screening did not take place upon the team's arrival in San Antonio. Rather, it was conducted during boarding at Raleigh airport on Sunday, June 7, 2026, before the flight's departure," the federation said in a statement.
According to the federation, the delegation was transported directly from their Raleigh, North Carolina hotel to the airport tarmac by bus under a specially coordinated travel arrangement — bypassing the public terminal and standard boarding areas entirely. All mandatory security and law enforcement procedures were carried out at the aircraft itself.
The federation stressed that the logistics were driven purely by practicality, stating: "The arrangement was primarily intended to optimize the delegation's travel time and facilitate boarding of the private flight to San Antonio."
Officials were equally firm in dismissing any suggestion of irregularity: "We wish to emphasize that the procedure was carried out in full compliance with airport security regulations and that no unusual incidents were reported."
The private charter flight proceeded without disruption, with the full delegation touching down safely in San Antonio, the federation confirmed.
The clarification comes as Senegal intensifies its preparations on US soil ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which kicks off this week across host nations the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
